What Does Be Ageless Really Mean? What I’ve Learned About Aging at 77

When I chose the name Be Ageless with Diana, I wasn’t suggesting that we should ignore our age.
Quite the opposite.
I’m 77 years old, and I’m proud to say that.
To me, being ageless isn’t about pretending we’re younger or trying to turn back the clock.
It’s about refusing to let the number of candles on our birthday cake decide what we’re still capable of becoming.
And lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about what that really means.
I DON’T WANT TO BE YOUNGER
There was probably a time when I thought “anti-aging” meant trying to hold on to younger-looking skin.
I don’t see it that way anymore.
My face has lived 77 years.
It has smiled, laughed, worried and cried.
It has spent time in the sun.
It has changed, just as the rest of me has changed.
I don’t want to erase those years.
I want to take care of the skin that’s carried me through them.
That’s why skincare remains such an important part of what I teach.
Not because we’re trying to become younger.
Because the skin we have today deserves to be cared for.
MAKEUP SHOULD CHANGE WITH US, NOT DISAPPEAR
Our faces change as we age.
Our skin changes. Our eyes change. Our brows may become thinner. Even the colours and techniques we’ve used for years may suddenly not work quite the same way.
That doesn’t mean we have to stop wearing makeup.
At 77, I still love it.
Some days I want a natural look. Other days I want more.
And yes, I still enjoy a little sparkle!
I’ve learned to adapt my makeup to the face I have today rather than trying to recreate the face I had decades ago.
Makeup isn’t about hiding my age. It’s about expressing who I am at this age.
WELLNESS IS PART OF BEAUTY TOO
The older I get, the more I understand that looking our best is only one small part of the picture.
I want to feel my best too.
That means paying attention to what I eat, moving my body, drinking my water, getting enough rest and occasionally remembering that I cannot accomplish 27 things in one day.
I’m still working on that last one. 😂
I want the energy to work on my business, spend time with the people I love, volunteer, travel, learn and keep saying YES to life.
Wellness isn’t about perfection.
For me, it’s about taking care of myself so I can continue participating fully in my own life.
PERSONAL GROWTH DOESN’T HAVE AN EXPIRATION DATE
This may be one of the biggest surprises of my 70s.
I’m still learning.
Over the past ten years, I’ve learned about skincare, makeup, colour theory and mature skin.
I’ve learned to teach workshops and speak in front of groups.
And then came websites, blogs, newsletters, videos, social media, technology and all the other things that occasionally make me wonder what I’ve gotten myself into. 😂
Some of it has been easy.
Some definitely hasn’t.
But every time I learn something I didn’t know before, I’m reminded:
Personal growth doesn’t have an expiration date.
At 77, I’m still curious.
And I’m still growing.
COMMUNITY MATTERS MORE THAN EVER
There is another part of aging well that we don’t talk about enough.
Connection.
Some of the greatest gifts of the last ten years have been the people I’ve met.
SeneSisters who became friends.
Customers who became friends.
Women I’ve met through workshops, networking, events and fundraisers.
People I’ve volunteered beside.
People I probably never would have met if I hadn’t kept saying yes to new experiences.
I don’t want my world to become smaller as I get older.
I want it to keep expanding.
More people to meet.
More things to learn.
More opportunities to help.
More reasons to laugh.
More ways to contribute.
AT 77, I’M STILL BECOMING
So after thinking about all of this, perhaps I’ve finally found the simplest definition of Be Ageless.
It’s not about being younger.
It’s about continuing to become.
We can start something new.
Learn something new.
Make a new friend.
Change direction.
Help someone.
Build something.
Give back.
Surprise ourselves.
Ten years ago, at 67, I said yes to something new without having any idea where it would take me.
Today, at 77, I have a business, a community, friendships, knowledge I love sharing and a purpose that continues to grow.
And I’m still not finished.
Not younger.
Not perfect.
Not finished.
That’s what Be Ageless means to me.
ONE MORE THING BEFORE YOU GO…
There’s one more reason I’ve been thinking about new beginnings this week.
There are only THREE DAYS LEFT to join SeneGence FREE in September.
Maybe you’ve been following my story and thinking:
“I could never do what Diana does.”
But here’s the thing.
You don’t have to.
Maybe you’d like to build a business of your own.
Maybe you’d like to explore an opportunity to earn some extra income by sharing products you already use and enjoy.
Maybe you’d simply like your own little beauty membership for yourself and a few close friends.
With skincare, makeup, hair care, body care and wellness, there are so many different ways this can fit into your life.
You don’t have to know everything.
I certainly didn’t when I started.
And you don’t have to decide today that you want to build a business.
You just need to be curious enough to ask the questions.
If you’ve been wondering about it, this is a particularly good time to talk because September’s Free to Join opportunity ends in just three days.
Your reason. Your pace. Your story.
Curious about what this could look like for you?
Text me and let’s have a conversation. No pressure; just information.
With gratitude,
Diana
